Should You Call A Plumber For Dishwasher Repairs?

A malfunctioning dishwasher can be a frustrating and stressful issue to deal with. It can disrupt your routine, leaving you with loads of dishes to wash by hand. It is a huge inconvenience and hassle. When faced with this situation, you may wonder which dishwasher repair service to call, whether to call a plumber or an appliance repair company. The right professional can help diagnose the problem and repair it quickly. So, let us help you find the right specialist for your dishwasher repair needs:

Plumber Vs. Appliance repair company

The easiest way to decide whether you need to call a plumber or an appliance repair company is to check whether the issue pertains to the inside of the machine or the outside of the machine. A plumber can handle all issues related to pipes, but they may not be able to handle internal wiring or circuitry issues. So, the first step is to figure out what exactly is the issue with the dishwasher. Here are some common scenarios in which a plumber can help fix your dishwasher issues:

Draining problems

If your dishwasher is not draining, ensure that the drain hose is connected properly. When the hose is not connected correctly, the dishwasher won’t work properly and leaks all over the place. If the hose is suitable and connected correctly, but the washer is still not draining, there could be a blockage. Depending on how deep the blockage is, you may be able to identify and clear it on your own

You can open the hose from the sink and look inside it for blockages. See if there is anything stuck inside the hose that is causing issues with draining. Look inside the garbage disposal as well for any clogs. The drain pipe under your sink is another place to look for blockages. You can use a long brush to clean out any blockages.

The best thing to do in this case is to call a plumber, as they can clear the blockages or fix the drain filter if required.

Inadequate filling

When a dishwasher does not fill up, it can be due to several plumbing issues. Sometimes, the issue is as simple as the water not being on. This can happen if the water supply was turned off for repair or checkup and wasn’t turned back on. It could also be due to an incorrectly positioned drain hose, open or unlatched door, or obstructed overfill protection float. A plumber can easily identify the problem and fix it.

Visible leaks

When you see water pooling around or under your dishwasher, it is a clear sign that something is wrong with the supply water or drainage system. If the dishwasher is leaking from the bottom, it is likely due to a leaky gasket and you will see water pooled on the floor in front of the dishwasher. However, if the dishwasher is leaking from underneath, it could be due to a faulty valve connection or a cracked hose.

Check your drain hoses to make sure everything is securely connected and that the water inlet valve is not stuck, which can cause flooding. Cracked hoses can also cause leaks. Replacing them can promptly resolve the issue.

If you encounter any of the aforementioned problems or any other issue related to water inlet or drainage, it is recommended that you call a plumber immediately. Get in touch with us for all of your plumbing-related needs.
